A note from our founder, who lives near Wenshu Monastery in Chengdu, China.
I live near Wenshu Monastery in Chengdu, China.
To me, Wenshu is first a place in everyday life. Chengdu’s teahouses, streets and the simple habit of spending time together make tradition feel close at hand. An often-used cup, a familiar piece of jewellery, a gift chosen for someone in particular: small things can carry very personal meaning.
That is where my idea for BODORI begins. I want to choose pieces that people enjoy wearing often, turning over in their hands and giving to someone they care about. Bodhi bead bracelets and Chinese-inspired accessories offer a way to make that idea tangible.
Much of their appeal lies in the details: dark speckles scattered across a pale bead, the brightness of a red accent, or a small shape you recognise, such as a lotus seedpod or a cat’s paw. A colour may catch your eye first. Over time, the piece may also bring to mind the day you chose it, or the person who gave it to you.
Our Chinese name, 菩礼, brings together a character from bodhi and the idea of a gift. We want a small object to make it easier to say, ‘I thought of you.’ It might mark a birthday or a new chapter. It might simply be something you choose for yourself because you like it.
Each BODORI piece will have its own story. Speckled Xingyue beads suggest a night sky to us. A lotus seedpod brings to mind the growth that follows a flower. Warm red accents suggest a bright beginning. These are our interpretations of the details, with room for you to find your own meaning.
We want to describe our pieces clearly and leave their stories open. You might be curious about their cultural background, enjoy the feel of beads moving through your fingers, or find that a bracelet goes beautifully with what you are wearing today.

我住在成都文殊院旁。
对我而言，文殊院首先是生活里的一个坐标。成都的茶馆、街巷和人们相聚的日常，让传统有了可以亲近的样子。一只常用的茶杯，一件戴惯的小物，一份为某个人挑选的礼物，都能承载很具体的心意。
这也是我想做 BODORI 菩礼的起点：挑选一些愿意经常佩戴、拿在手里看看，也愿意送给在意之人的小物。菩提手串和中式饰品，正好给这样的想法一个合适的形状。
手串的动人之处，常常藏在细节里。浅色珠面上散落的深色点纹，一颗红色配珠带来的明亮，或是莲蓬、猫爪这样可以辨认的小小形态。最初吸引你的，也许只是某种颜色。戴得久了，它还可能让你想起买下它时的心情，或送它给你的人。
“菩礼”的“菩”取自菩提，“礼”来自赠礼的心意。我们希望，一件小物能把“想到你了”表达得自然一些。它可以是一份生日礼物，可以陪一个人开始新的生活，也可以是为自己挑选的一点喜欢。
因此，BODORI 会为每件商品写下属于它的故事。星月点纹让我们想到夜空，莲蓬的形态让我们想到花开之后的生长，暖红色则让我们想到新的开始。这些是我们观看事物、表达祝愿的方式。你也可以从中读出自己的故事。
我们愿意把看得见的细节讲清楚，也把故事留得开放一些。你可以了解它的文化背景，可以享受珠子在指间转动的触感，也可以只是觉得它很配今天的衣服。
从成都文殊院旁的生活出发，BODORI 想与你分享的，是一件容易亲近、值得常常佩戴的小物，以及选择它时的那份心意。
